Session #60: All Your Base Are Belong to Us *Updated for XP*

For some months now the Survivors of the Tel have been meeting in the private rooms of Cothon-Under-Star, if not exactly covertly, at least privately and often. Rumors swirled about these meetings--they wished to conquer something in the Ocean's Throat sea-caves; or finally recover the Aegis of the Demon Queen; or an expedition to deal with the rising Kzin-renegate the Red Cloud ... Well, last week they finally gathered together after one of these meetings and, in the company of Lord Althis of the Crag, set off for the Ocean's Throat.

The company:

  • Avin (magic-user 6)
accompanied by Vlana the Bard (magic-user 3)
  • Bartholomew Pettibone (magic-user 6)
    accompanied by Gan ad-Din (fighting-man 5)
  • Sesel the Voice (fighting-man 6)
    accompanied by Raoden (magic-user 4)
  • Revna (magic-user 5)
  • Heijo (magic-user 5)
  • Lord Althis (magic-user 5)

Some of these returned later that evening, not with the doleful faces of those who had lost comrades, but elated, faces lighted with success. Messengers were dispatched to Durham at his Ringing Anvil, while Lord Althis escorted a cloaked feminine figure to the the Pallbearers' Way, and ultimately to his and Zet Frin's Crag Keep. This woman, said to be Wadjet al Ahmedi, a young scion of an ancient family, was clearly rescued from imprisonment in the underworld of the Tel, in the same place that the Survivors seem to have claimed for themselves.

For indeed, just as after the seizure of the piratical ship Darkwing and rumors of a secret fortress in the sea-caves now held by Durham and his renyu allies, Durham now sets off into the Ocean's Throat again with his employees and much supplies--so it seems that some new project has begun in the underworld!

Alas, perhaps, little treasure seems to have been recovered on the expedition--unless perhaps the haul is too large to transfer from the underworld? But Althis was seen to be carrying a number of bundles apparently of green skins back to his fortress at the Crag, so at least something was recovered, beyond young Wadjet.

The Lucre

  • 19 green "skins" (unvalued)
  • 4300 dinars from 19 warrior harnesses (average 226 dinars/gp ea.)
  • 1300 dinars from 5 "greyling" harnesses (average 260 gp ea.)
  • rescued young woman Wadjet al Ahmedi
The Learning (*updated*)
  • 5600 xp from treasure
  • 801 xp from "greylings" x5 (150 + hp ea.)
  • 1296 xp from "mutons" x19 (200 + hp ea.)
  • 1120 xp from ru'un x2 (500 +hp ea.)
  • 400 xp from the rescue of Wadjet

The Cut (*updated*)

  • 1349 xp to each player-character
675 xp to Vlana, Gan, and Raoden
+187 xp to each player-character and 93 xp to Vlana, Gan, and Raoden
  • 747 dinars (gp) to each player-character
373 dinars to Vlana, Gan, and Raoden
  • 19 green "skins"
  • Wadjet al Ahmedi

The fate of Wadjet is largely up to Lord Althis, who took her under his wing at the end of this expedition. The 19 "skins" include a negotiable number that Lord Althis also claimed for himself. About 8 were personally "skinned" by himself, and may perhaps be claimed by Althis directly, but it is the provenance of the company to agree to such things according to what seems fair.

Much remains behind that is not accounted for in this recap, theoretically under claim by the Survivors, but Lord Althis may also lay claim to something if agreed fair.

And as usual, any written accounts, artwork, &c. depicting the night's adventure sent to the Scribes and posted here will earn 100 xp per level to the providing player-character.
