The Kzinti have gathered again near the Tel AlSafeena for their great moot--for the testing of Braves, the dueling of Heroes, and the sacrifices of the Black Priests.
Neither Men nor Klackons dare not venture forth from their dual city of Gadeed-Cothon at this time, save for those few bold (crazy?) enough to do business with the Lion-Men of the southern plains.
And yet, in through the eastern gates of harbor-city Cothon, a bedraggled band of six humans make their way through the streets to the portside tavern of Cothon-Under-Star while keeping a wide berth from the Old Herm & Stone, where Kzinti Braves are known to congregate. Each of the six bears a blood-smeared scar on either cheek, and most are otherwise bruised or bloodied on their mostly-naked bodies. Yet they bear themselves with a kind of pride, carrying with them strange treasures that whispers suggest come from the underworld of the Tel itself ...
Presenting themselves in the tavern of Cothon-Under-Star are these:
- Revna (alchemist)
- Avin (apprentice Magic-User)
- Razo (scholar)
- Sesel (hunter)
- Torkol (interpreter)
- Gan (physician)
They tell of harrowing battles against dagger-clawed Kzinti in the dark, of fleeing from the various carrion-eating denizens of the underworld, and of strange encounters with psychic grey beings ...
Regardless of the truth of these tales, their loot tells a different, far more material tale:
Treasure
- rusted kinjal dagger with a jeweled pommel (500 gp for the gem)
- electrum-and-gold chain of office for the captain-owner of old trireme (1200 gp)
- gilt and jeweled scabbard and scimitar; in the light of the red sun, it is clearly engraved with ancient script (1700 gp for the scabbard; the sword reacts psychically when examined ...)
- ancient sabre (70 gp)
- wtsai sword, taken from a slain Kzinti Brave (150 gp)
- dose of sthondat-lymph, stolen from the Kzinti (1000 gp)
- a delicately engraved gold and silver Kyni-bird, holding itself as if an egg, said by Razo to be Nassr, bird-companion of Hamdi the Voyager (clearly a magic item; worth a small fortune if sold, or it could be identified by the sages attached to the tavern Under-Star)
- the ornate bowcase of Tammoz the Hunter (1100 gp)
- 6 arrowheads from said bowcase, likely magical
- 5720 from Treasure
- 678 from Kzinti Braves x4 (150 ea., +hp)
- 100 to each character for exploration
- 1166 xp ea.
- 953 gp, 3 sp ea.
