Once again, as the stars above spin their courses across the sky of night, and the Fortress Moon sheds its greenish light over the harbor, Sesel, newly blooded fighting-man, spins a yarn to his fellow patrons of Cothon-Under-Star over a krater of black wine; this time, he recounts the recent expedition on which he took part, seeking entrance into the Spire of the Attine Klackons of the Tel (earning 200 xp, as he is now level 2)
Torkol, fellow of the six Survivors, is meanwhile eager to continue to train his ear and works to interpret what he can of the account to the Klackons gathered in the darker corner of the Mother Whelk. They listen intently, their great insectoid eyes all seemingly focused on Sesel, both curious and horrified to hear what transpired within the Spire of their estranged cousins.
The tale (as written by Jacob):
"Torkol provided us with a hook to that which we all knew we wanted, more. More adventure, more exploration, more discovery, and obviously: more treasure. And so it was that we set out to discover this mysterious Sixth House, quarantined and feared by the Klackons that inhabit their Great Spire.
"The group only recently freed of the Kzinti opted to skirt the mountain of the Tel, making our way along the coast, past the fisher and fermenters to the North of the city. And then East, up the stair and across the headland towards the spire.
"We made our way carefully, having known and then witnessed to be true that these Klackons have no qualms of taking humans as slaves, and feeling no particular need to relive that so soon after our flight from the Tel. Our approach quickly found us hidden behind another group concealing themselves and obviously waiting for some occurrence before making their move on the tower. We were only surprised by the group in that they themselves were Klackons, likely bandits or other rivals.
"Deciding it was too early to risk our scant resources, and not feeling any particular need to fight these, we made our way back and around. Finding ourselves another, more private entrance. Here we entered the Great Spire and found ourselves in their winding tunnels. It took us some time, searching the strange circular hallways and entrys, covered in intricate swirls and designs. Walking these I am somewhat glad we did not bring Torkol, as an interpreter and curious about the Klackons I expect we would have found ourselves quite delayed studying the strange patterns. Perhaps I’ll find time upon our next adventure to take a rubbing for him.
"After a fair bit of searching, and having stumbled upon the central market wherein we were able to locate the Sixth House, we found our way inside. The smell of death was ever present, much to our displeasure. In the main hall we found and were, eventually, able to recover 2 tapestries. Making our way through a couple of the various rooms we were able to recover an additional 2 tapestries, and a couple of bizarre Klackon instruments.
"In the second room of tapestries we found several Klackon corpses. Having heard stories of dead raised to fight again we cautiously prodded the first of these, and to the surprise of no one we were attacked. Though what attacked us was a surprise, as we quickly discovered strange cocoons where the heads of the Klackons should be, and from these erupted horrible bugs. Though seemingly blind, lacking any obvious eyes, they had no trouble directing their large mandibles and ant-like stingers towards us.
"The fight that ensued was tense. We were able to quickly strike down the first, but the others evaded us and all made to eliminate Ix. I, being the brave and attending fellow to those who would join us on such adventure, used my shield to aid Ix in their defense, blocking several vital blows. Sadly, being only one man, I was unable to block every blow and Ix was eventually struck. As they were, their movements began to slow and become sluggish. Fortunately we were able to finish the fight quickly hence, allowing Ravna to use their magics to cure Ix of the paralysis.
"Having collected our bounty, and feeling the doom and death of the place upon us, we left the not-so-abandoned tower. With only a few peaceful run-ins on our way out we returned to the city, retracing our steps along the coast. And so it is that we live to adventure another day!
"With story and treasure in hand, we invite others that might adventure to join us! If ye seek adventure, discovery, and treasure, seek ye the Survivors of the Tel, housed in the wonderful Cothon-Under-Star.
"A tavern for only the finest adventurers and makers of healing salve! Without their bacta-salve my friend and fellow adventurer Razo would have seen their demise at the hands of the Kzinti!"
